I signed up for sewing classes a few weeks back and had my first one this past Monday! It is for beginners and is from 6-9 pm every Monday for the next 6 weeks. My teacher is Louise Robertson, and she means business. She has been sewing for over 50 years and expects us to be very dedicated students. The class is split up into either fashion or home decor. My end goal is to eventually make Christmas decorations and do some quilting, so I am in the home decor group.
Our first assignment is to make a pillow. Solon and I went out yesterday to several local fabric stores and picked up my supplies. I have my pattern, scissors, straight pins, pin cushion, sewing gauge, seam ripper, dressmaker's marking pencils and thread. I got my sewing machine out on the table and have been re-learning how to load the bobbin and such. All I lack is the fabric, cording and filler! So going shopping for that stuff this weekend. Very excited.
