Christmas Night

Shellye and Sarah came over Christmas day/night. This time was always the time we spent the day with my dad. This was his favorite FAVORITE time of the year. This day. I can picture him pulling up in Sally's driveway and walking up the steps with all our stocking bags in hand. Ready to get the day started. First off a beer. We would hang out and sometimes eat..or if the weather was good sit on the porch. We sat on the porch last year. Then the presents. My dad would use Jay as his help to make sure he got us the perfect gifts. The bonker buys that we would never do for ourselves. The expensive white sunglasses. The Graphic Standards book that weighs 20 lbs and costs an arm and a leg. The styrofoam bookcases. The boxes of fancy golf balls. My dad would start his Christmas purchasing before Thanksgiving sometimes. While going through his things I found a mountain of paper under his desk. Receipts. Notes. Christmas lists. Emails back and forth with Jay. All discussing what was on everyones' list. Well. This was the first time in my life that I spent Christmas Day without my dad. I am so proud of how we all came together and smiled. It wasn't all easy, but we had a very memorable day. And I know Daddy was with us every second.
