End of the Weekend
After a big day at the beach, we did a taco bar. All the kids and adults pigged out and then the kids watched a movie. The boys are growing up way too quick...so it was a great weekend to really enjoy them.
Beach Day
Some of the best beach weather I can remember. Our babysitter, Miss Lynn, took care of the two babies (Tot and Mason), so the rest of us could hit the beach all day. It kicked off with the finding of a treasure map, and after a lot of digging....a lot of digging...we finally found the buried treasure! Candy and coins! Then we spent several hours building castles, tunnels and moats in the sand...and then lots of swimming in the waves. So beyond relaxing. I could have done that day over a thousand times.
And The Storm Rolls In
All the rest of the crew started rolling in Friday night and Saturday morning. Original Lyle flew in from Raleigh, and we hadn't seen him since last Memorial Day. Then Matt Rabinowitz and cousin Johnathan drove in from Tupelo. Christopher and his friend, Lyle 2.0, drove in from Atalanta. The Collins from New Orleans, and the Haywoods from Mobile. As usual there were tons of people! And lots of fun!
Memorial Day Weekend 2013
We headed down Thursday afternoon and arrived close to 8:30. The kids were put to bed and then back up super early for a big day. We ate breakfast, played and were in the pool by 7:30 AM.
SHE'S WALKING!!!
Sorry..in my excitement I shot the video sideways!

Sweet Big Bro
It just started thundering and Tudor-Beach got scared and started crying. Solon immediately ran upstairs and grabbed his two favorite stuffed animals, Mark the Shark and Jake the Snake, to help make her feel better.
Baking
Solon really wanted to "bake" a dessert the other night, so I pulled out a bunch of ingredients. He made a soupy concoction..and when I asked what it was he replied "A Chocolate Souffle!"
Maybe I have the food network channel on too much?

14 Months Old
I couldn't get Tot to sit still for any sort of photo...so this is her at 14 months. Content not to be walking even though we all KNOW she can do it. Content not to say one word even though I know she knows a few based on a few slips. She is a professional climber. And she has learned how to give kisses...open mouthed ones:)

Best Weekend
Did we ever need a weekend away! Jay and I have not gone away on our own since before Solon was born. That is just insane to think about. We had traveled to a wedding once and then to Oxford for a weekend with friends/family..but never just us two. And we did it up in Asheville! We talked non-stop the entire drive over and were hitting the cute downtown within minutes of our arrival. First stop was a cool bar to catch the golf tournament and discuss design ideas on a new kitchen. We hit a few places afterwards..some tapas and sangria and then ended up at a Tressa's...a jazz bar. Where we went all Mad Men/Don Draper and indulged in Old Fashions. We even drank like him:) The next day we hit the Biltmore which was fantastic. Such a huggggge house. I think they said there were 43 bathrooms which is crazy because indoor plumbing was not a standard convenience. We finally made it back to our hotel room and completely vegged out. Wings, Vanity Fair, Dairy Queen, golf and sleep. We ended our trip with breakfast the next day downtown..and then hit the road.
Great weekend:) It was very difficult coming back to reality
Little Tot
So still no walking even though her legs are strong enough to stand on our bed on her own. I think she is just a bit lazy. Anyway, she chewed through half a pack of hot dogs at the grocery last week...which I got lots of strange looks for while going down the aisles.
My Little Artist
Muffin LOVES to color and paint, and it of course makes me super happy. And I know all parents think their kids are exceptional..BUT...I honestly do think he has great use of color:) And he can draw a lot of different things. Right now his favorite are whales.
