Interlude. What??

They do a show at the top of the hour at the waterworks. So we listened to a little Beatles, Stevie Wonder and Mozart. Solon sat still and actually seemed a little entertained.

Give Me Your Two Cennts

The goal every day is to figure out how to empty Solon's gas tank. So today, we decided to check out the Olympic Centennial Park. There is a water park of sorts. Tons of kids running around in the heat and the waterworks. Solon was crazy. He was running, falling and laughing.

Too Many Photos..I Know

One of my good friends/neighbors/ex-coworkers, Erik, has been working with one of his grad-school friends for the past year...helping design and draw up his dream house. Today, the owner gave some of us local architects a tour of the place. Wow. It is a beautiful lot up in Sandy Springs, and the house is LEED certified and just jaw-dropping gorgeous. We spent a couple of hours walking around. It has a geo-thermal tank system. Incredible cantilevers. But the spatial relationships were just so amazing. The house was 4, 472 SF but it honestly didn't feel so big. Such a good sign of a building. Every space was properly scaled and nothing unnecessary. And the light streaming in the windows. Double wow. The house will be on Atlanta's annual modern house tour in May. If you are in town..check it out. (And yes. Their parking garage is buried underground.)

Unveiling It Early

We have been singing the ABCs for quite a few weeks, and Solon is finally getting it all strung together. The L, M, N, O, P part is a little jumbled but he is close! I apologize for the angle..but I was trying to be discreet.

Catch Me

Camel Time

Solon's backpack showed up in the mail today, and we waited until Jay got home to open it up. It is so cute with his little name embroidered on the back and the perfect size. School starts in 2 weeks.

Bad Bad Baby

In a fit of grumpiness, Solon grabbed my beloved redwood bowl I got on my honeymoon in CA and threw it on the ground. I heard this loud crack. And yeah. He broke it. It took a lot for me not to cry because this was really the only thing I bought the entire trip...my bonkers buy. But what can I do. It is just stuff. And I know there is going to be a lot more things broken over time. So I glued it together..and then went around the house and began picking up breakable and irreplaceable things to store away. I guess I will wheel them back out when Solon is 20.

Tired of One Another

Sometimes Solon and I have these very long days together, and by the end we are just wanting to see a different face. Solon gets whiney, I get grumpy..and we try and find new things to do and talk about. Yesterday was one of those days. But he broke out the smiles when I directed the camera his way..it is almost hard to believe that he was a walking frowny face before and after these shots.

Middle of the Week Treat

Chris and Melissa came through Atlanta yesterday and stayed with us for the night. They are on their way to Raleigh for a small vacation before school starts back up for them. Solon liked their cooler. Reaching his little hands in their and yelling Cold!

A Break

Solon sat and played with his ball while I talked to Sally on the phone. It was pretty rare to see him so quiet for so long.

New Past Time

I find bar stools in the strangest places. Solon loves to push them around the house. Hide them in the bathroom. Or behind a door.
