September 17th would have been my dad's 66th birthday. Jay and Ann were sweet enough to do Solon duty for the entire weekend, and let me drive down to Pensacola to spend a few days with Sally & Janie. We didn't have Amanda, so we weren't all there..but in honor of my dad Janie made him a cake, Luke painted him a watercolor and we all piled into the shuttle to go visit him.
We brought balloons (one for each of his girls and a Thomas the Train for all his grandboys), a huge slice of cake, and his favorite beer Natural Light. Everyone drank and we sang Happy Birthday. And us girls were wearing our Cardinal shirts that Cat gave us as a gift. It was an incredibly hard few days, but we all joked that he was smiling down at us and thinking we were being silly..but loving that we love and miss him so much. Then we went home and feasted on Popeyes...just like he did the year before.
