The Wait

Solon and I showed up at Sally/Jason's house around 2:00 pm, and Janie was there with Luke. We let the boys rest for a bit and then we headed to the hospital. Sally looked beautiful and was handling her contractions pretty well. We got creative trying to entertain the boys. Spinning them on the chair, letting them ride the elevator, taking them to the fountain to throw pennies into it, and then to dinner at Wendy's in the lobby. Nancy, Mattox and David showed up a few hours into our stay...and then we waited. We managed to keep the boys up and happy until about 10 pm. Janie and I shuttled them home and got them into bed...and then we laid down to get some rest around 11. BRRRING! Janie's phone went off around 1 a.m. She was here, so Nancy stayed at the house with all the kids, and Janie & I raced to the hospital. We walked in and Jason was holding her, and we were just a big crying mess. I got to hold her first, and they announced her name. Ansley Sanders Rabinowitz. Ansley was a name they both loved, and Sanders was my mom's maiden name. It was perfect.

She was so tiny and had strawberry colored hair just like Janie. Just so cute. We didn't get much time with her because the nurses had to whisk her off to the nursery and put her under a heat lamp.
Sally hadn't eaten in over 24 hours, so Jason ran off to Whataburger (only thing open) to pick up food. In the meantime, we helped Sally get relocated to her recovery room. We ate and talked until we were all too tired to move. Janie & I went home, and Nancy took off for a visit. We didn't get much sleep because the trio of boys were all up super early and about for one reason or another.
It was a great night!
