Ancient Relics

Sally, Janie and I have spent hours slowly going through all of our dad's things. We divided up the Christmas ornaments that have hung on our tree for longer than I can remember. Each of us took the items we made when we were younger. It is funny to think how these things made out of paper, popsicle sticks and such have survived all these years. Things I made in 1981. Some my mom painted ages ago. Some just look like they were just made...like my Rudolph. Some have seen better days...like the paper chain.
Sally, Janie and I each had 'our' ornament that we always hung on the tree every year. Janie's was a little walnut shell made into a manger. Mine was the multi-colored ball with glitter. What was Sally's?? I can't recall as I write this. My dad gave Janie the walnut last year to hang on her first Christmas tree.
Anyway, it was hard hanging these ornaments on my tree. I almost didn't want them. They were supposed to be somewhere else. On my dad's tree. But once they were hung all I could do was just stare and remember some of my most favorite memories. Decorating the tree with my family.
