A Family Trait?

I think all of us do it. My dad, mom, Sally, Janie and me. We will get a towel and use it for a hundred years. All of a sudden one day you look at the rag, and it is so tattered and ugly that you tell yourself that you MUST throw it away immediately. But you can't do it. None of us Sparkmans can.
I got this dishtowel from my mom when I was heading up to MSU as a freshman. I believe it came in a pack of 4. Two blue ones and two red ones. This is the one that I managed to keep up with since 1994. What is that? 17 years of use.
It is funny. I have found towels at Sally, Janie and my mom's houses that I recognize from when we were little. They are stained, torn and no longer in their prime, but there they sit all folded up..if you can fold something so worn out...in a closet or under the bathroom sink. When going through my dad's things last year, we came across an old oven mitt that had been burnt to pieces that Sally laid claim to and I am sure it now sits in one of her kitchen drawers.
I did throw this dishtowel away, but I promise I have 10 more in my drawer that are approaching this one's condition.
