You might remember we had a huge limb fall on our deck last summer, and Jay and I have been debating whether or not to have the tree cut down. This past week while working in the yard I noticed a hole at the base of the tree, and I could see the inside was rotting. I told Jay that we needed it to come down asap. He talked to our neighbor who is a contractor, and Sunday morning three men showed up and began working. It was a cool process to watch. When the main part of the tree fell it shook the entire house and left a 1' impression in our yard. Anyway, sure enough..once the limbs were chopped up and the tree on the ground you could see that it was so rotten and hollow throughout it that it was only a matter of time before it fell...and completely crushed half our house. So, Monday night we had winds pushing 60mph and tornado alerts, and I saw throughout the neighborhood and surrounding area tons of trees downed. Whew.
Anyway, now we have an abundance of white oak firewood. It is enough to last us several years:)
