My Heart's On Fire...Elvira

She made it! Elvira Beach Carre' was Tudor Beach Carre's sister, and she died young of scarlet fever.  Nanna had this large portrait hanging over her dresser in her bedroom, and this was one of the pieces she left my mom.  Sally, Janie and I spent the week prior to our last trip to Greenwood going through the 50 items Nanna designated to my mom in her will, and us three girls managed to sort through what we wanted all via email.  No fights or hair pulling:)  Janie's top pick was Nanna's marble topped dresser.  Sally's top pick was the china cabinet that sat behind Eli in the dining room.  My top pick was Elivra.  I was a nervous-nelly as Jay said until she was hung safely on our wall.

And now she sits in our old school parlor!  Compelte with furniture and finishes from Nanna's home.  Velvet tufted chairs.  Leather studded couch with pillows.   Large oriental rug.  Crystal candlestick lamp. Family pictures. Knick knacks. And Nanna's distinct 'smell.'

I still have piled high throughout the house a lot more stuff..but this was the first piece of assembling part of Nanna's home into ours.  Love it.
