I have been wanting to visit the
Biltmore for years. Ever since I saw a special on the Today Show ages ago. And I was beyond impressed. You drive in along these winding roads and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and when you round the corner and catch the first glimpse of the 'largest residence in the U.S.' it takes your breath away. Beautiful, big and surrounded by gardens and fountains designed by the renowned landscape architect,
Olmstead. I have done a lot of tours of buildings, museums and such. Here in the US and while backpacking in Europe and 9 times out of 10 I am let down by the quality of the presentation and work. Not this time. So many wonderful things to see, and it feels like you stepped back in time. There are 250 rooms in the
Biltmore, and I would say you get to see close to 100. However, we only made it to about half of that due to Mr. Muffin Man getting bored and squealing:) He did so well...lasting close to 2 hours, so Jay and I promised each other that we would make another trip to
Ashevile minus Solon so we could see spend an entire day seeing the house and the grounds. (The reason I have no photos of the inside is because they don't allow them and...No Sketching? A little strange.)
